Communication Service for the Deaf is looking for a French Bilingual Communication Assistant with excellent customer service skills and communication skills to work in our Moorhead, Minnesota Contact Center.
The role of a French Bilingual Communication Assistant is not your traditional or typical customer service role. Telephone Relay Service (TRS) includes all of the fun, positive and rewarding aspects of customer support (office setting, consistent schedule, assisting communication) and eliminates the more exhausting aspects of a call center environment like, sales, quotas, angry customers, troubleshooting & diagnostics, conflict de-escalation, strict call-handle time, or call-waiting queues.

$1.00 increase upon passing the bilingual fluency test

Did we mention that down time is YOUR time? Because our call center does not have call-waiting queues you can expect to have a little bit of down time between each phone call. During this time you are able to work on personal projects at your work station, with the exclusion of using some electronic devices such as cell phones. It’s a great way to work on some homework, read the books you never have time for, pick up a new hobby (perhaps knitting or crocheting), or learn something new – like American Sign Language!
Requirements
High School Diploma or equivalent
At least 18 years of age or older
Typing skill of at least 60 WPM using a personal computer

Bilingual in English and French
Skill Assessments will be administered to determine fluency levels during training
Ability to work holidays, weekends and evenings
Experience working in a call center or providing customer service in a retail or similar environment (preferred)

Why is customer service an important skill for our communication assistants to have? Communication Assistants provide communication access for Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and people with a speech disability by relaying telephone calls using voice and a computer. Your role would be to relay phone conversations between deaf consumers and hearing individuals by reading what is typed by the deaf caller and voicing that to the hearing individual. Then, hearing what is said by the hearing individual and typing that information to the deaf caller, with the contents of the call relayed as accurately as possible without intervening in the conversation.
