INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR
The role
The Ebola outbreak in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo has been raging for over a year, with more than 3,300 cases and 2,200 deaths since August 2018. Save the Children (SC) is responding to the epidemic and the needs in Ituri and North Kivu provinces through a multisector response, including health, WASH, nutrition, and protection programs.

The primary objective of the position is to ensure the effective flow of information from field offices, to the main SC-DRC office, and across the larger Save the Children Federation and its donors, producing vital information and communications materials to increase the visibility of the humanitarian needs and Save the Chlidren’s response.

The Information & Communications Coordinator will prepare communications outputs, including situation reports and key messages, lead on information management tasks, gather powerful communications materials (photos, case studies), as well as rise to the challenge of other tasks as needed, such as fulfilling donor reporting requirements.

In this emergency context, the role holder may be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.



Qualifications
Education to BSc/BA/BEng level in a relevant subject.


Experience and Skills
Essential
Education to BSc/BA/BEng level in a relevant subject.
Experience working overseas in humanitarian programs
At least 3 years experience at a development or humanitarian organization.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in French and English, with the ability to address different audiences, including to donors, journalists and the “general public”.
Experience developing communication and fundraising materials.
Excellent computer skills, especially in Microsoft Word, Sharepoint, and Powerpoint.
Ability to provide high quality photographs and relevant case studies.
Political and cultural sensitivity
Ability and willingness to be extremely flexible and accommodating in difficult and sometimes unstable work situations.
An initiative-taking, proactive, inspiring attitude with the ability to manage and prioritise an unpredictable workload and solve problems quickly with limited support
Commitment to Save the Children's objectives and principles.

Desireable
Experience in managing grants and awards.
Experience creating media products such as press releases and case studies.
Contract length: 06 Months
