The progressive realization of child rights and the reduction of equity gaps requires, among others, that children have equitable access to justice, defined as the ability to seek and obtain fair, timely and effective remedy for violations of rights as put forth in the international, regional and national legal frameworks.

The Country Programme of UNICEF Bulgaria for 2023 – 2027 aims to ensure that every child has the best start in life, feels safer and receives better support to develop their full potential.

How can you make a difference?

The Programme Officer (Violence against Children/Access to Justice) provides professional technical, operational and administrative assistance throughout the programming process for the interventions related to violence against children and access to justice through the application of theoretical and technical skills in researching, collecting, analyzing, and presenting technical programme information while learning organizational rules, regulations and procedures to support the development and implementation of the Bulgaria Country Programme for the period 2023 - 2027.

Key responsibilities:

Support the program development and planning by collecting, analyzing, verifying, and synthesizing information to facilitate programme development, design, and preparation.
Prepare and monitor programme documents and programme co-operation agreements, memorandums of understanding, undertaking field visits and documenting programmatic visits.
Support the technical and operational work needed to establish, develop, and monitor programme interventions related to prevention and response to violence and access to justice.
Provide technical assistance and input to relevant working groups and stakeholders
Collect and analyse data and information from the field, as well as provide inputs to internal and external reporting processes.
Support the country office’s innovation, knowledge management and external and internal capacity building initiatives.
To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

A university degree in law, social work, psychology or related field is required. An advanced degree and specialization in human rights will be an asset.
A minimum of one year of relevant professional experience in the fields of violence against children and justice for children.
Fluency in English and Bulgarian is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) is an asset.
