Job position: IQLS is looking for a VETERINARY LABORATORY SPECIALIST in charge of the development and performance of laboratory activities and provide inputs on technical part of projects.
Under the supervision of the Director of IQLS Africa his/her main duties are:
• Technical activities:
o Establish the content and agenda of the activities
o Develop training/workshop materials and translate them when necessary
o Conduct on-site missions (assessment/training/workshop)
o Review of the material/report developed by others lab specialists
o Report to partners and clients
o Participate to proposals development
o Contribution to obtaining, maintaining and enhancing IQLS ISO9001 certification
o Contribute to fulfilling workplans and strengthening national laboratory policies, strategic planning and quality assessments programs
• Project management and communication
o Promote and facilitate easy communication with national stakeholders through his/her existing professional network in Burkina Faso
o Keep project members and stakeholders informed of key developments, decisions, issues and changes to project plan
o Foster One Health multisector linkages throughout program implementation
o Develop short monthly activity summary
o Promote and support external presentation of technical activities
o Participate to international meetings and events on behalf of IQLS
o Develop articles, activities news/updates for IQLS website, in collaboration with
• Meeting management
o Organize project review when needed
o Ensure follow-up action on issues raised in the meeting
o Take notes and actions points during meetings, complete these points with actor names and deadlines, follow-up on the action points
• Activities preparation/tenders
o Review/perform veterinary system and facility assessments
o Participate to answers to tenders and proposals
o Identification of new opportunities and businesses
o Proposition of consultants for specific activities
o Qualification:
• Minimally a BSc or MSc from an accredited Veterinary college or University. Ideally a DVM degree with laboratory specialization
• 5 to 10 years of professional experience
• Key competencies:
o Animal health laboratory science
o Clinical bacteriology
o Laboratory system & network
o Disease surveillance
o International regulations
o Lab management & organization
o Communication skills to conduct training /workshop
o Ability to think and work independently
o Bilingual French/English, spoken and written
o MS Office proficient
